In 2011 I packed up my studio apartment in Toronto and with my two dogs and two cats I made my way to my new home, the Anglican Church in Alvinston, Ontario. After living in bigger cities for the last 20 or so years I was both excited and nervous, not sure what to expect. After ten years creating a place for myself and my creative endeavours I realized it was time to put into words some of the fascinating history, people and events that make up the community I now call home.
With the help of a grant from the Lambton County Creative County Grant Program and a partnership with the Municipality of Brooke-Alvinston I was given the opportunity to create stories of Alvinston’s past and present. By creating a visual story of past and present through words and photographs I hope to build an audience who comes to love this community as much as I have.
A part of the proposal for the Lambton County Creative County Grant Program also includes building a revenue stream through subscriptions, donations and sponsorships as well as developing a logo and presence that can be used for branding on t-shirts, hoodies etc. The logo will help promote the blog, the community and help support the time needed to research and write.

Information Suggestions, Corrections Welcome…. If you have a story, photo’s or information that would help me build a better picture of Alvinston’s history please contact me. I am always on the lookout for new information or images as well as any current upcoming events that I can come out and cover. I also welcome any corrections people find within my stories if you know something isn’t accurate. Not being from this area the information is still relatively new to me including precise information on the local families and their history. What happens today will one day be a part of our history. Individual Support This project, although a ‘labour of love’ is one that includes many hours of research, travelling, interviews, developing connections, taking photos and then weaving it all together into stories comes with a price tag. Although the blog will be available to read, share and follow at no cost I am adding way to help support the work I am doing through a donation option.
